Frequently Asked Questions
What does Chimera Law do?
Chimera Law is a clause editor for German venture-capital practice. Term sheets, investment agreements, shareholders’ agreements, articles of association, and convertible loan agreements get worked on a single screen: import, rephrase, review, export. AI rephrasing runs through the Anthropic Claude API across seven deal stages with a five-level founder/investor bias.
Is AI-generated content reliable?
AI-generated clauses are suggestions, not legal advice. They may contain errors, incomplete information, or fabricated references. Every output must be reviewed independently before use in legal documents.
What do the seven deal stages mean?
TS = Term Sheet, SEED = Series Seed, A+ = Series A and later, CONV = Convertible / Bridge, EXIT = Secondary / Exit, X-BORDER = Cross-Border (US/EU), PLAIN = Plain Language. The stage drives the language style and the market-standard benchmark (BVK; with NVCA cross-check on Cross-Border).
What do F2 / F1 / N / I1 / I2 mean?
The five-level bias slider tilts the clause between founder-leaning (F2 / F1), neutral (N), and investor-leaning (I1 / I2). One API call returns all five variants in parallel for direct comparison.
How does privacy work with Chimera Law?
Clause text and images are transmitted to Anthropic’s Claude API for processing. Anthropic retains API content for up to 30 days for abuse prevention by default. Profile and usage data are stored in your private iCloud. Memory content (three manual save slots plus one optional auto-save slot) is held only on your device. Details: Privacy Policy.
What is the Memory feature?
Three manual save slots (Memory 1, 2, 3) plus one optional auto-save slot. Manual slots are written only when you explicitly tap the Memory button. The auto-save slot is updated in the background only when the “Auto-save current draft” setting is enabled. Stored only on your device; full removal via “Wipe all memory” in Settings or by uninstallation.
Can I use my own Anthropic API key?
Yes. You can provide your own key in Settings. Use of your own key is governed by Anthropic’s own terms and prices. The key is stored in the iOS Keychain; calls run directly through your Anthropic account.
Does Chimera Law work offline?
Clause editing, Memory, and manual revision work offline. AI rephrasing, Tell Me, multi-variant generation, and Track Changes detection require a connection to the Anthropic API.
Can I export my drafts?
Yes. Export as DOCX, PDF (with embedded redline), or plain text. The Tell Me analysis exports as its own PDF. Text can also be copied directly to the clipboard.
What is Tell Me?
Tell Me is an eight-section analysis of a clause: purpose, relevance, bias assessment, risk flags, typical deviations, market standard, related clauses, historical predecessors. Market standard is benchmarked against BVK Standards Documentation (with NVCA cross-check on the Cross-Border profile). A small dashboard shows Bias (-2..+2), Risk (1..3), and Market (Yes/Partial/No).
What is Revise?
Each Tell Me risk flag carries a suggested fix. Tap to apply the wording inline to the Output tab. A free-text field plus voice input drives further amendments.
What is Track Changes detection?
Photograph a contract page with markup (underline for insert, strikethrough for delete). Apple Vision and AI classification detect insertions, deletions, and moves automatically.
